MUSCAT -- Oman Agriculture Development Co (OADC) SAOG has further enhanced the quality of its products, and has put in place new measures to expand its distribution network in the Sultanate and to start exports. Dr Suhail Khan, General Manager, OADC, said the company is looking to start exports in near future. In recent times, the company has launched several initiatives to further enhance the quality of its products with a view to expanding its distribution network and to start exports, he added.
Its Sohar brand of fresh milk is one of the most successful Omani dairy brands since its inception in 1990. The Sohar brand is practically etched into the nation's psyche. Few brands in Oman's dairy sector are as recognisable as the Sohar range of fresh milk, fresh yoghurt, fresh laban, Sun farms laban, Jeera laban, Nakhal fresh juices, Moo Cow flavour milk and Baheej of OADC, which has carefully tailored its production base to meet the specific needs of the region's consumers in terms of quality, flavour, ingredients and taste.
The company boasts the oldest dairy farm in Oman. Sohar milk has earned a reputation as the freshest when supplied to consumers through supermarkets, departmental store chains, shopping outlets and the company's home delivery system. The milk is produced in OADC at AT ITS Sun Farms, in Sohar from a cow herd that comprises of one of the best breeds of dairy cattle in the world.
The milk is pasteurised and homogenised and after leaving the farm in refrigerated vehicles it is in the market within three to four hours. The best feature of Sohar Milk is that the cows that produce it are reared in a manner which is absolutely in conformity with nature, said Dr Khan. They are fed on all natural ingredients from vegetable sources; unlike many farms across the world. This is one reason why the company is keen to expand its distribution network in Oman and also to start exports in nature future.
