Second-quarter profits at National Aluminium Products dropped 34 per cent compared to the corresponding period in 2010, according to a company statement.

The company's figures show that profits after tax for the three months ending in June 2011 fell to RO747,000 from RO1.14mn. However, total income grew 4.6 per cent from RO10.7mn to RO11.2mn.

In other earnings news, net profits at Oman Chlorine for the first half of 2011 crept up by 0.8 per cent from the year-ago period, according to a statement released by the company to the Muscat Securities Market.

The brief report shows that profits after tax have grown from RO1.25mn for the first half of 2010 to RO1.26mn for the corresponding period in 2011. Pre-tax profits have also grown from RO1.23mn to RO1.44mn.
