Riyadh Nasair, Saudi Arabia’s first budget airline, has signed a training contract with Pilot Training College (PTC) Ireland.
The contract involves the beginner Pilot Cadetship Programme aimed at training 100 Saudi first officers.
Sulaiman Al Hamdan, CEO of NAS Holdings, Nasair’s parent company, said: “Nasair is one of Saudi Arabia’s leading airlines, flying passengers in the region to domestic and international destinations at smart fares. We operate with a fleet of some of the world’s most modern aircraft and we require some of the world’s best flying crew.
“The quality of the training is absolutely essential to the continued success of the airline and its growing reputation for excellence. We chose PTC following a full and thorough assessment of their training facilities and standards and we were satisfied that the Irish company could deliver on what we require, highly skilled pilots.”
Mike Edgeworth, Executive Chairman of Pilot Training College, said “We continue to attract companies of the calibre of Nasair by ensuring that we operate to the highest international standards. We hope this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship with Nasair.
Global brand
“We’ve been working hard for the last five years to ensure that the PTC brand is recognised globally for the quality of our training. We already have a successful ab-initio cadetship programme with Flybe, Europe’s largest regional carrier, and we are also the preferred JAA training provider for Air Astana, Kazakhstan’s national carrier, and Turkish Airways.”
