Amman - Jordan and Turkey on Saturday discussed means of boosting bilateral economic relations and ways of implementing a joint free trade agreement FTA.

During his meeting with a delegation from the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD), Jordan Customs Department (JCD) Director-General, Ghaleb Sarayreh, said the two countries are ready to take the FTA, signed in a 2009 visit by the Turkish Prime Minister to Jordan, in full force as of next march.

Sarayreh briefed the team on a number of JCD projects and stressed Jordan's keenness to strengthen its ties with Turkey in the field of customs and other economic areas.

He urged Turkish businessmen to take advantage of the Jordanian market as a central link to Gulf and African markets. The head of the delegation noted that Turkish businessmen are interested in boosting ties with their Jordanian counterparts.

Jordan and Turkey signed the FTA during the Turkish Prime Minister visit to Amman in 2009 to facilitate trade exchange and benefit from the mutual customs exemptions.
