Amman, July 4 (Petra) -- Jordan Customs Department has attended meetings of International Customs Organization (WCO) and the 34th MENA meeting, which were held in Belgium recently.

The meetings discussed a number of key issues related to developing and modernizing customs work, adopting best practices in the area of security and facilitation of supply chain in world trade movement.

Participants had a first hand look at the latest developments in terms of customs, such as air cargo security, global shield scheme, governance and the amended Kyoto agreement.

Director of Jordan Customs, Ghaleb Sarayreh, who represented Jordan to the meetings, said his department has adopted modern technology to empower customs, increase its efficiency and improve its performance.

He called on the European Union to ease state of origin rules for countries, which signed agreements with the union.
