TEHRAN -- Iran holds 40 percent of total assets of Islamic banks around the world, an expert said.
Irna news agency quoted the Egyptian professor, Saeed Vafaiee Tadroos, as saying that according the ranking of the "Asian Banker" magazine; seven banks of 10 largest Islamic banks are Iranian.
He added that in addition to Iran, the countries of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Malaysia, and Indonesia have also witnessed some breakthrough in Islamic banking.
He went on to say that Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Kuwait and UAE totally hold the 40 percent of the assets of Islamic banks, while Iran separately holds the 40 percent of it.
