Riyadh conference drives awareness of cybersecurity trends and the need for a strong cyber defense framework, in line with Saudi Vision 2030

Riyadh, KSA - September 14, 2016

FireEye, Inc., the leader in stopping today's advanced cyberattacks, recently held a conference for its partners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the 24th of August at the Ritz-Carlton Riyadh.

With a slew of prominent targeted cyberattacks dominating headlines over the last few years, the need for organizations to bolster their internal IT systems has never been greater. In a highly globalized world, businesses can no longer rely on current countermeasures in the face of increasingly sophisticated attackers. The rise of the region as a hub for banking, finance, aviation, tourism and real estate has made it a prime target for cyberattackers. Motivated by numerous objectives, threat actors' capabilities and level of sophistication are rapidly evolving to steal more information, including personal data and business strategies, in order to gain a competitive advantage or to degrade operational reliability.

The FireEye Partner Conference, KSA, saw FireEye executives discussing how both public and private sector entities can counter the challenges of a steadily evolving cyber landscape to better protect information assets. Aimed at further building on the strong relationship with partners in the country, the conference brought together over a hundred delegates from 25 partners in the Kingdom. Over the course of the event, partners were briefed on recent acquisitions by FireEye, such as iSight Partners, developments in the FireEye platform and the company's partner strategy for 2016. With the acquisition of iSight Partners, FireEye has now created the world's most advanced and comprehensive private cyber threat intelligence operation, enabling organizations to detect and respond to security breaches more effectively. FireEye's existing customer base will see immediate value in their existing subscriptions through increased protection from the iSIGHT intelligence network. Other key sessions included an overview of Mandiant Services, the threat posed by APTs (Advanced Persistent Threats) and the need to make cyber risk a boardroom agenda.

"As a wide spectrum of cyberthreat players step up their attacks, getting bolder by the day, our partner conference in Saudi Arabia could not have come at a better time. The role played by our partners in preparing the organizations of tomorrow to face a new generation of cyberattacks is invaluable," says Mohammed Abukhater, Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at FireEye. "As the Kingdom introduces a wave of reforms and initiatives to drive the national economy, in line with the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030, organizations in the country need to be aware of modern-day threats and the potential danger they pose to everyday business operations. Now more than ever, they will find themselves in need of a solutions provider that can help them go from detection to fix in the shortest amount of time possible. With the help of our partners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, FireEye aims to bolster organizational readiness, thus cutting costs and driving business growth."

In recent years, the GCC states have witnessed a spate of attacks, targeting key industries and critical infrastructure. From the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region, FireEye has observed that Saudi Arabia and Turkey were subjected to the most targeted attacks. Given such a complex landscape, the threat is not going to end. It is expected that threats will persist and continue to adapt through new social engineering techniques, delivery methods, and the complexity of their attacks. Hence, it is important for organizations to remain vigilant with user education, proactive detection technologies and security policies that help prevent new threats.

About FireEye, Inc.
FireEye has invented a purpose-built, virtual machine-based security platform that provides real-time threat protection to enterprises and governments worldwide against the next generation of cyber attacks. These highly sophisticated cyberattacks easily circumvent traditional signature-based defenses, such as next-generation firewalls, IPS, anti-virus, and gateways. The FireEye Threat Prevention Platform provides real-time, dynamic threat protection without the use of signatures to protect an organization across the primary threat vectors and across the different stages of an attack life cycle. The core of the FireEye platform is a virtual execution engine, complemented by dynamic threat intelligence, to identify and block cyberattacks in real time. FireEye has over 5,000 customers across 67 countries, including more than 940 of the Forbes Global 2000.
