Abu Dhabi, 26 May 2015

Etisalat, strategic partner and participant at the CSR Summit 2015, elaborated on the growing responsibility of businesses to adopt innovation in order to achieve the nation's 'smart' vision.

In a keynote presentation to the audience gathered for the 3-day event in Dubai, Ali Al Ahmed, Advisor to CEO at Etisalat, shed light on the need for a different approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the region, particularly the UAE. "Challenges such as food, energy and environmental crises that determine CSR policies of organisations globally, may not be the most relevant in the context of a young nation such as the UAE", he said.

He discussed how businesses in the UAE are incorporating innovation every step of the way. "Aligned with the innovation strategy laid out by the nation's visionary leadership, helping contribute to the UAE's knowledge-based, smart society of the future through creativity and innovation is gradually becoming the top CSR agenda for corporations in the UAE.

He further outlined Etisalat's CSR strategies, "Through a well-structured CSR strategy focused on innovation, Etisalat is not only becoming a leading vehicle in driving technology revolution in the country but also an enabler of development in various spheres of the UAE's economy", Al Ahmed added.

Etisalat's CSR strategy hinges on digitisation and innovation in areas of education, empowerment of the under privileged and environmentally friendly technologies.

"To contribute to such a unique and evolving CSR landscape of the UAE, we are excited to partner with organisers of the CSR Summit in building a platform for discussions and sharing of compelling ideas in this area", he concluded.
