Empower is determined to contribute to the implementation of UAE Vision 2021, says Bin Shafar

Dubai, UAE: The General Pensions & Social Security Authority (GPSSA) has honoured the Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) for being one of the first companies to adopt the Collection of Contribution Systems, an online automated pension collection method.

Empower was successful in implementing the new system very quickly in line with its extensive efforts towards smart transformation supporting the UAE and Dubai governments' visions.

Mr. Ahmed Al Qasim, Senior Manager-Human Capital, Empower, and Maryam Al Marzouqi, Manager, Empower, received the award on behalf of Empower from H.E. Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs and Deputy Chairman, Head of Executive Committee, GPSSA, at an event held at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City on the occasion of the UAE Innovation Week, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Commenting on the award, HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower said: "We are grateful to the General Pensions & Social Security Authority chaired by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the esteemed Board of Directors for this coveted recognition. We are committed to implementing the vision of the UAE Government and make it a reality that would bring benefits for nationals and expatriates in the country."

GPSSA launched the new system to automate the procedures of pension collection, activate the ID number as the authorized number to identify the members and retirees, and to boost the awareness among insured people through instant notifications. This system has effectively contributed to convert and transfer inward and outward funds of GPSSA electronically, both in terms of the collection of the contributions or pension conversion. The system saves time and efforts of GPSSA and employers, and helps instantly define the type of money transfer, whether pension or rewards.

"Creativity and smart transformation take predominance in the UAE, which are visions set by its wise leaders. At Empower, we have succeeded in adopting these concepts, and transferring many of our services to the smart systems. We have also established an innovative one-of-a-kind command control centre, to demonstrate our global leadership in district cooling sector. We also raised the happiness index rates in line with the vision of the Government of Dubai. The implementation of GPSSA's new system is an important part of these efforts," added Bin Shafar.

A total of 11 associations were honoured at the ceremony. In addition to Empower, the list included the Central Bank of the UAE, the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, the Treasury Department (TD), the Department of Dubai Smart Government, Human Resources Department of RAS Al-Khaimah, Ajman Bank, HSBC UAE, Emirates NBD and RAKBank.

Empower recently conducted financial literacy sessions to teach its staff how to improve their overall financial health. The sessions were delivered by Standard Chartered Bank in Dubai, and included money management tips and advice. Moreover, in continuation of smart transformation, the company has started issuing electronic No Objection Certificates (NOC) for works on the Emirate's roads based on the electronic system of the infrastructure in the Dubai. It also launched an outreach campaign urging customers to make official registration to its services as well as updating it.

"It is a matter of great pride to hold a prestigious position in financial transactions among world-class institutions. We will continue to support innovation, and raise the happiness and satisfaction indices, as well as improve services at all levels," concluded Bin Shafar.

GPPSA has recorded many achievements since its inception, especially in extending the pension law umbrella to include the entire UAE national work force in the federal ministries and entities, in addition to the local governments in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. UAE nationals working in the private sector are also covered by the law, as well as employers, self employed and professionals. Moreover, the law also covers the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals working in the country.
