MUSCAT -- Omran, the Sultanate's premier tourism-related investment, development and management company, is all set to open Duqm City Hotel in April. Zuwaina al Rashdiya, Omran's Brand and Communications Manager, told the Observer that "the total Omran investments in Duqm is around RO 50 million."

She said the strategy to develop an economy segment hotel in Duqm, Oman's fastest growing new city close to the new sea harbour, airport and industrial zone is to support it to become a city in its own right like Sohar; giving employment to hundreds of people from the local communities in Duqm.

With its strategic location between Muscat and Salalah and additionally in the Indian Ocean, Duqm has the potential to take away the risks of oil and gas shipment compared to other ports. It is Oman's first ever pre-fabricated 3-star hotel project built by Omran in Duqm, Al Wusta region. The hotel consist of 120 guest rooms with options of single, double, twin beds and five well appointed suite rooms.
The hotel has been conceived and designed to cater to the rapidly growing need for hotel, accommodation and business facilities in the area.

It targets the segment clientele that seeks all the comforts of a business hotel at an economical cost such as visitors connected with business and projects to the new port/harbour, airport, oil refinery and new industrial areas of Duqm.

The hotel has been designed in a contemporary style, embellished with local Omani characteristics to create quality and a welcoming ambience to all types of visitors.

It features a number of important facilities including a multi cuisine restaurant, juice bar, fitness room, well planned kitchen, in addition to 24 hour operation, business services, currency exchange, and travel desk.

Located at 600 km from Muscat, 550 km from Salalah and 7 km from Duqm in the south east of Oman, the Duqm City Hotel will be up and running by April this year.

Omran is mandated by the Government of Oman to deliver major projects and manage tourism assets and investments. This is in line with the Government's vision of positioning tourism as a major economic driver of the future and as a generator of employment.
