Dubai: The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) plans to host over 60 exhibitions, conferences and live events in the fourth quarter of this year, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

The events are expected to attract 820,000 visitors. These include GITEX Shopper, Gitex Technology Week, Gulfood Manufacturing, Big 5 and Dubai International Motor Show.

“This peak season at DWTC is a crucial time for regional and international businesses, and our team at DWTC is focused on supporting the growth and development of these businesses by providing the right platform for them to showcase their work and network with the right partners,” said Ahmed Alkhaja, Senior Vice President — Venues at DWTC, in the statement.

He added that the MICE [meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions] sector in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is valued at $1.3 billion, with the UAE accounting for half of that at $653 million.

GITEX Shopper, a consumer electronics event, will take place October 3-10, as it marks its 25th anniversary. Retailers and international brands will showcase their offers for electronic devices during the show’s eight days.

Later in October, Gitex Technology Week (running October 18-22) in its 35th edition will showcase innovations in the tech industry including drones, robotics, and 3D printing, among others. It is expected to welcome over 140,000 visitors from over 150 countries.
