Dubai - Keeping in line with the goals of the Dubai Association Centre (DAC), to promote Dubai as the hub for regional organisations, the Centre has launched the Ambassador's Programme. A first-of-its-kind, this Programme aims to work with senior Association Executives, both locally and internationally, to promote the Centre, engage with other associations and build a knowledge base for the development of associations in the region.

These Ambassadors will take forward the mission of DAC, by creating public awareness about the Centre, representing the Centre internationally at events and exhibitions and actively participating in DAC activities.

Dubai Association Centre has identified prominent business personalities who have been leading associations in the region. The DAC Ambassadors include David Macadam, CEO, MECSC-ICSC Middle East & North Africa, Waleed Refaay, Managing Director, SPEMENA & India, Faris Abouhamad, Chairman & World President, IAA, Worldwide, Mohamed Mezghani, Deputy Secretary General, UITP, France, Hussein Ghattas, President, IIBA, United Arab Emirates, Dr. Wael Abdulrahman Almahmeed, President, GHA, United Arab Emirates.

Speaking about the Programme and the selection criteria, H.E Hassan Al Hashemi, Member of the Executive Committee of DAC and Vice President of International Relations, Dubai Chamber, said, " The Ambassadors are selected on an annual basis through mutual consent of the DAC Steering Committee. These individuals should be Board Member, Chairperson, CEO or Managing Director of an association, preferably licensed by the Centre, with past experience in business development, strategy and pioneers in their field"

Al Hashemi further stated that this is just the first of many initiatives and is in line with DAC's mission to allow a formal environment where international non-profit, scientific and professional associations can form a membership-based community and open a regional representative office to conduct business in the UAE and the wider Middle East region

The Dubai Association Centre, with 12 members currently, was established in the beginning of 2014 under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), with the aim to provide assistance to professional associations to set up office space and develop their activities and membership in Dubai and beyond.
