Abu Dhabi, 07 October, 2015

The Department of Finance Abu Dhabi (DoF) hosted, yesterday, an introductory workshop about a new common government procurement coding system for a number of government entities, which will be implemented across all Abu Dhabi government entities at the beginning of next year.

This workshop was organised to introduce the new common government procurement coding system to participants and familiarise them with the various processes and features of the system.

During the workshop, speakers explained the objectives behind implementing the system, and explored the system's government procurement tools for materials, services and projects, in addition to its compatibility with the Abu Dhabi Government ERP system (ADERP). Participants also discussed the restructuring required to introduce the common government procurement coding system, as well as the implementation plan for all government entities and companies in Abu Dhabi.

DoF has developed a special system for encoding government procurement across the Emirate, which will be applied to ADERP, an integrated system for the purchase of goods and services as well as capital projects. DoF has ensured that this system is consistent with the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC), which was released in its new edition in 2014.

HE Salah Mohammad Al Waswasi, Executive Director of Policy and Financial Systems Sector of DoF- Abu Dhabi, highlighted that the implementation of the new common government procurement coding system is testament to DoF's commitment to enhance financial resources through effective planning and performance monitoring. HE stressed that DoF will continue to support government entities with the implementation of the Department's various systems, including the common government procurement coding system.

HE said: "The implementation of this system is in line with DoF-Abu Dhabi's strategy and is a prime example of the Department's efforts to unify the strategic direction of all government entities in Abu Dhabi. This will be achieved through the system's tools, which meet the best global financial standards. The system is also compatible with the ADERP and UNSPSC systems."

The common government procurement coding system is designed to manage the requirements of various government entities, providing services, solutions and specialised reports on government procurement. The system also supports government directives and efforts to enhance government financial work, as well as the resettlement policy and the local economy. It also handles group buying procedures, provides a comprehensive database for government procurement, and prepares tenders and purchase plans for government entities.
