Online ride provider resumed operations at 8am on Wednesday
Abu Dhabi: After a brief suspension of operations in the capital, online ride-provider Careem on Wednesday resumed its services.
In a statement sent to Gulf News, the Dubai-based company said that it had been "back in Abu Dhabi from 8am".
"Careem is operating on a skeleton basis until we are able to regain most of our fleet. We decided to re-open our service primarily to support our Captains who rely on us to get business," the statement said.
The provider, which refers to its drivers as "captains", added that initially, supply of Careem cars may be limited.
"So we ask our customers to be patient with us until we gradually increase our fleet to meet demand," the statement added.
As reported by Gulf News, Careem and it's US-headquartered counterpart Uber, suspended operations in Abu Dhabi on August 27.
Details on the reasons behind the suspension are still unclear and the capitals' taxi and limousine regulating authority, The Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars, has not yet responded to queries.
