Abu Dhabi Farmers' Services Centre will be discussing opportunities for growth in the Western Regionwith a number of public and private companies at the third annual Al Gharbia Development Forum. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, the forumwill take place 19thMay, 2015 in Abu Dhabi and will serve as a platform for ADFSC to discuss new agriculture developments.

"Abu Dhabi Farmers' Services Centre first began its operations in Al Garbiadue to the number of farms, fertile lands, access to ground water and the strategic importance of the area." said Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Communications Section Manager, ADFSC.

The Western Region is home to over 8,250 farms, over 6,300member farmers and 12 ADFSC Extension Centres. The Al Garbiaregion currentlysupplies ADFSC with 35 to 40 percent of its commercial produce including vegetables and dates.

"Al Gharbiaboasts some of the largest and most productive farms in the UAE and the agriculture sector is the largest employer in the region. Abu Dhabi Farmers' Services Centre is working with farm owners in Al Garbia to update agricultural practices, increase farm productivity, and contribute to national food security and sustainable agriculture."

Abu Dhabi Farmers' Services Centre will be using the forum to seek out new opportunities in agriculture for region and also to investigate developments in other innovative areas such as aquaculture. 

The one day Al Garbia Development Forum will also serve as a platform for both public and private entities to discuss infrastructure, industrial and social infrastructure developments in the region.

The Forum will highlight the region's investment priorities in areas such as petrochemicals, transport, housing, education, healthcare, agriculture and food processing as well as government and community services.

The Abu Dhabi Farmers' Services Centre (ADFSC) provides technical and operational support services to farmers, helping them grow and market their produce.

ADFSC was established in 2009 to bring strategic agricultural reform to Abu Dhabi, especially by introducing and encouraging the conservation of natural resources. The organization was formed under Law No. (4) 2009, issued by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to work in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Government in order to implement reform in farming practices.
