In order to optimize the fuel efficiency of its products portfolio, IKCO is going to produce 70 thousand sets of self-developed engines by the end of this Iranian calendar year, i.e. March 20.
Mir Javad Soleimani, IKCO vice-president in quality and product development in this regard said, "Based on the scheduled programs, the company aims to manufacture 180 thousand sets of IKCO engines in 2012, Seventy percent of which to be CNG-based.
Eighty Iranian manufacturers have been involved in design and development process of IKCO CNG-based engine.
Acquiring related know-how could be mentioned as the most important achievements in design and development of IKCO CNG-based engine.
According to the studies, mass production of IKCO CNG-based engine could bring about 35 billion liters of fuel efficiency in a ten year period.
TU5 and EF7 are fuel efficient engines. Following the rationalization of subsidies plan in Iran, IKCO announced that it would outfit most of its cars with these two engines. This plan cuts fuel subsidies and makes the customers to go for fuel efficient cars.
The intellectual property of EF7 engine belongs to IKCO. It comes in CNG based, turbocharged, gasoline and diesel types.
