The disaster management team at DHA and Rashid Hospital immediately pressed into action and prepared 37 emergency beds, 8 resuscitation beds, 88 critical beds and 166 beds for stable patients so that they can deal with the maximum level of disaster if needed.

UAE, Dubai, August 3, 2016: Dubai Health Authority's (DHA) Rashid Hospital prepared its Trauma Centre and Hospital following the emergency landing of an Emirates Airline plane, in anticipation of any emergency cases.

The hospital also immediately dispatched its highly specialized team headed by Dr Ali Khammas, consultant trauma surgeon at Rashid Hospital and the team consisted of anesthetists, intensivists, emergency physicians and specialized nurses. 

The DHA already has in place airport clinics and the team was dispatched to support the medical staff on ground.

Meanwhile, the disaster management team at DHA and Rashid Hospital immediately pressed into action and prepared  37 emergency beds, 8 resuscitation beds, 88 critical beds and 166 beds for stable patients so that they can deal with the maximum level of disaster if needed.

DHA stressed that this is protocol in such situations whether there are any casualties or not because in the initial hour it is difficult to assess the exact extent of the emergency.  

The hospital also formed a team of specialists including anesthesiologists, trauma specialists, surgeons etc. that was led by Dr Alya Saif Al Mazrouei CEO of Rashid Hospital and general surgeon, Dr. Victor Butros, Consultant and Head of Emergency Department, Trauma Centre and Dr Zaid Al Rayes, consultant and head of ICU at Rashid Hospital.

The level of disaster was gradually downgraded as the team received messages from the relevant authorities that the situation is under control and finally the disaster alert was cancelled.
