LONDON- Organisers of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit, GMIS, held a promotional tour at the Bloomberg Media Centre in London, where a seminar was held to discuss the effects of the final exit negotiations with the European Union, EU, on United Kingdoms industrial sector.

The seminar was attended by Rawdha Al Otaiba, Deputy Head of the UAE Mission.

Recent studies have revealed that about a million skilled, trained and highly skilled workers from the EU countries are ready to seek jobs outside Britain after it leaves the European Union, following what is known as the BREXIT referendum.

Studies conducted on about 2,000 workers from the EU countries working in Britain showed that 55 percent PhD holders, as well as 49 percent of graduates, plan to or have already decided to leave Britain and seek employment in other countries.

About 3.1 percent of the workforce, or nearly one million people, now see their future outside Britain.

Al Otaiba said that the UAE was making great strides in building a diversified knowledge-based economy and technologically qualified national cadres.

The UAE is witnessing unprecedented industrial development, and the Emirates will welcome international companies who want to establish industrial facilities in the country, enabling them to benefit from the competitive advantages that the UAE can offer them, she added.

British companies, whose products make up 45 percent of Britains total exports to the EU and who export 52 percent of their products to the EU, stressed the need for the British government to coordinate with them to protect them and to ensure that the negotiations for Britain's exit from the EU in March 2019 would achieve the best results for the industrial sector to consolidate the stability and economic growth of Britain.

Badr Salim Sultan Al Olama, CEO of Strata Manufacturing and Head of the organising committee of the GMIS, said, "The UK is the world's eighth-largest industrial country with an annual production worth US$249 billion. The UK industrial market will continue to grow even after it exits from the EU if the British companies can continue their contributions to the global supply chains.

"The British industrial sector has played a vital role in shaping the future of the UK, as it contributes to 70 percent of the total investment in research and development by British companies. We are pleased that the Summit will provide a global platform for the British industrial companies to express their aspirations for the future after Britain's exit from the EU, through which it can commit to its partnerships with international industrial companies, ensuring openness and international cooperation for the pursuit of world prosperity."The GMIS is a joint initiative of the UAEs Ministry of Economy and the UNIDO, as a platform to achieve global prosperity.

The inaugural session of the GMIS was held in Abu Dhabi from 27th to 30th March 2017.
