MUSCAT: Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries (Orpic) will on October 10 celebrate the laying of the foundation-stone for $4.5 billion worth construction works at Liwa Plastic Project.

The project will be operational by 2020. Liwa Plastics Industries Complex in Sohar is the biggest industrial project in the Sultanate and the project’s feasibility study points out that it will contribute 2-3 per cent to the Sultanate’s GDP and will increase the contribution of Orpic projects to the GDP to 9 per cent by 2020. The project will also generate about 1,000 direct job opportunities, in addition to more than 12,000 indirect jobs.
