Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the leading urban developers in the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U) with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning; represented by Muharraq Municipality on Tuesday, the 24th of March 2015, to facilitate the process of issuing Building Permits for 3rd party developers in Diyar Al Muharraq.

The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Diyar Al Muharraq, Dr. Maher Al Shaer and the General Manager of Muharraq Municipality, Mr. Saleh Ibrahim Al Fadhala, at the Muharraq Municipality offices in Muharraq, and is considered to be the beginning of a bilateral cooperation between both the private and public sectors. The signed M.O.U defines the procedure which both parties have agreed upon to further ease the procedure of issuing Building Permits for third party developers of construction projects at Diyar Al Muharraq Site.

Speaking about the purpose of the M.O.U, Chief Executive Officer of Diyar Al Muharraq, Dr. Maher Al Shaer said: "In order to facilitate the process of Building Permits issuance, both Diyar Al Muharraq and Muharraq Municipality have put in place a comprehensive regulatory framework that defines each party's role and responsibilities with regards to the requests put forward by 3rd party developers to obtain Building Permits. The framework is collective in nature as it includes works pertaining to construction of new buildings, as well as requests for modifications, extensions, renovations, demolitions and completion certifications, and will ensure the smooth flow of procedure for building permits applications and issuance to add more convenience to both developers and

investors. In fact, the framework reflects the wise vision of Bahrain's leadership in further supporting investment initiatives in the Kingdom on both national and international levels."

Under the M.O.U, Diyar Al Muharraq authorizes its Technical Interface Office (T.I.O) to liaise on its behalf with the Muharraq Municipality. Third Party Developers of projects at Diyar Al Muharraq will now submit their requests for Building Permits to the T.I.O in order to obtain an official stamp indicating that all standards and requirements as set by Diyar Al Muharraq, have been met. Following the obtaining of a stamped approval from the T.I.O the same documents are to be submitted to Muharraq Municipality for processing the issuing of Building Permits.

"We deem this procedure as very time efficient indeed. The T.I.O will take the responsibility of ensuring that everything is in accordance with the terms and conditions, and the Muharraq Municipality upon validating the T.I.O's stamp will promptly issue the Building Permits. Hence all projects are ensured to be in line with the high standards and specifications set forth by Diyar Al Muharraq," Dr. Al Shaer added.

From his side, Mr. Saleh Ibrahim Al Fadhala said:"Muharraq municipality is fully supportive of world class urban development projects being carried out within the Muharraq Governorate.
