REGGANE, Algeria- Algeria will launch the Reggane gas field by the end of the year, officials at state energy company Sonatrach said on Tuesday.

The project is valued at around $1 billion and is expected to have an annual capacity of 8 million cubic metres.

"This project has a three month delay, much better than Touat with an 11 month delay, said Sonatrach CEO Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour, referring to another gas field as he announced the launch date for Reggane.

"We need to reach zero delay," he told reporters during a visit to the field.
