JEDDAH: Saudi Vision 2030 is in the process of establishing the concept of "shared services."

The concept focuses on the standardization and integration of the shared service sectors between the ministries and government sectors, managed by one single sector to save the billions of riyals and offer the best and most efficient services with high reliability.

The government sectors may include procurement, implementation of projects, engineering issues, employment, information technology and other public services, among others.

SABIC's experience in this regard has set an example. It realized a remarkable success in establishing a shared-services sector by applying it across its firms inside and outside the Kingdom since 2003. This has achieved impressive results for the company by providing billions of riyals that supported the company's competitive position.

The shared services division in SABIC works on standardizing the sectors including human resources, information technology services, domestic and international procurement services, engineering and project services, financial services, and public services in one sector, thus canceling duplications in dealing with these services and resulted in reducing costs to very low levels.

The one unified sector contributed to the standardization of all work and services linked with these sectors, and significantly reduced the costs and expenditures, and supported the operational performance, productivity, marketing, profits and the strategic growth of the company.
