NEW DELHI- Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Suresh Prabhu, yesterday met with Dr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al-Banna, UAE Ambassador to India, and discussed with him issues of mutual concern to the UAE and India.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Banna affirmed that the trade and economic relations between the UAE and India are not only robust but also extensive and cover many sectors.

"The UAE is one of India's most important trading partners. Indians are prominent investors in the UAE, while India is an important export destination for UAE manufactured goods," Dr. Al-Banna said. "Regular exchanges would further strengthen trade and investment ties between the two countries."The ambassador emphasised that bilateral trade and investment flows between the UAE and India are supporting the two countries, and said that he is expecting significant growth in the coming years. "However, to continue to expand on these achievements, India and the UAE should take concrete and complex steps and hold high-level meetings," he added.

The two sides also discussed the meeting of a high-level working group that is likely to be held shortly, providing an opportunity for both sides to address issues related to investments.

Dr. Al-Banna and Minister Prabhu affirmed the importance of continued cooperation to build trade and investment relations, achieving the common interests of the two countries, and expressed their desire to promote and expand bilateral ties.
