Deira Mall will be at the heart of Nakheel's Deira Boulevard development
Dubai-based master developer Nakheel awarded on Wednesday a 4.2 billion dirhams ($1.14 billion) contract for the construction of Deira Mall to the United Engineering Construction company, a private construction firm based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Nakheel said in a press release.
The construction of the new 6.1 billion dirhams Deira Mall three-storey project is set to start in the third-quarter of this year and is expected to be completed in 2020. Spread over four million square feet, the mall will include over 1,000 retail and food outlets.
Deira Mall will be at the heart of Nakheel’s Deira Boulevard development, a 5 billion dirhams master community that comprises 16 residential towers, surrounded by recreation and retail areas. A construction tender for Deira Boulevard was released in January, 2017.
Nakheel’s other large-scale retail project in the area is the Deira Islands Night Souk, which will feature 5,300 retail outlets and around 100 restaurants. The project’s construction is due to be completed next year, the press release said, adding that all retail space at the Night Souk has been leased.
