Dubai, UAE: As part of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) meetings with diplomats to foster bilateral relations and cooperation, and exchange knowledge, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, welcomed HE Jakub Sławek, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the UAE, and Paweł Mączka, Third Secretary at the Polish Embassy.

At the start of the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed the Polish delegation. They discussed future cooperation with Polish companies specialised in the renewable and clean energy and water.

Al Tayer said that Dubai has a clear direction for the energy sector. It includes expanding the use of clean energy and employing digital transformation, smart grids, the tools of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and disruptive technologies, for their impact on the energy and water sectors.

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s pioneering and innovative initiatives and projects to achieve the vision of the wise leadership. He talked about DEWA's efforts in developing renewable energy projects and supporting research and development in line with Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 75% of Dubai’s total power capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.

Al Tayer explained that DEWA, in line with the directives of the wise leadership to expand the share of clean energy, is developing promising solar projects at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This is the largest single-site solar park in the world with a planned capacity of 5,000MW by 2030. DEWA is also implementing a hydroelectric power plant of 250MW capacity in Hatta, in addition to other projects under study to use wind power.

The Polish delegation commended DEWA’s efforts to promote the energy sector in the UAE and Dubai, praising the services and facilities provided by DEWA.
