Dubai: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, confirmed its support to Dubai’s fast growing hospitality sector and more than 17% of the hotels in Dubai are served by company’s environmentally friendly district cooling services. Empower added that it has developed the district cooling infrastructure to carter to the increasing demand from many of the upcoming projects across the Emirate and a total of 1252 buildings are connected to Empower’s district cooling services as of 2020 end.

On the sidelines of the Arab Travel Market 2021 that is being held from 16th to 19th May at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Empower stated that the number of mega and iconic tourism and hotel projects seeking to be linked to its network is increasing, crowned with new hotel projects that have recently joined Empower's portfolio, most notably the Avani Palm View Dubai Hotel and Suites, Adagio Premium The Palm, Paramount Hotel, the Seven Hotel & Apartments The Plam and the masterpiece of modern design and luxury, One Za'abeel, which includes the world’s first urban vertical resort under the One&Only brand.

Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “Our support to the hospitality sector in Dubai continues with the aim of helping the sector to shoulder its responsibilities towards reducing carbon emissions and strengthening Dubai’s endeavors in achieving green economy and sustainable development, in addition to cutting down operation expenses in the hotel sector. This goal is achievable, thanks to the highly efficient and environmentally friendly district cooling systems that leverage artificial intelligence and contribute up to a 50% reduction in energy consumption.”

Bin Shafar pointed out that Empower is keen to meet the steady growth in the hospitality sector in Dubai through it’s high readiness and professionalism to meet the increasing demand for district cooling services in all residential, educational, health and commercial sectors in general and hospitality in particular. Empower's special focus on hospitality sector stems from Dubai's superiority in the size of hotel projects at the local and regional levels. According to the American real estate consultancy company Lodging Econometrics, Dubai accounts for 25.2% of the number of under construction projects and 26.5% of the number of under construction hotel rooms in the Middle East.

Empower provides district cooling services to more than 1,252 buildings, catering to more than 140,000 customers, with a total cooling capacity of 1.64 million Refrigeration Tons (RT). The Company offers eco-friendly district cooling services to a number of high-profile developments, such as Dubai Waterfront, Bluewaters, Dubai International Financial Centre, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Palm Jumeirah, Discovery Gardens, Ibn Battuta Mall and many others.
