Emirates is expanding its capacity to the Americas with the resumption of services and increased flight frequency on certain long-haul routes.

The Dubai-based carrier said it will resume non-stop services to Seattle in the United States from February 1, and Dallas and San Francisco from March 2.

Flights to San Francisco and Seattle will operate four times weekly, while trips on the Dallas route will operate three times per week.

The new flights take the total number of destinations on Emirates’ North American network to 10, following the resumption of services to Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Washington DC,

The airline said it will also operate two daily flights to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on February 1 and one flight daily to Los Angeles, while in South America, a fifth weekly flight to Sao Paulo will be deployed from February 5.

Emirates now operates flights between Dubai and key cities in at least 78 countries.

Dubai opened its borders to international tourists in July, months after the global lockdown caused air passenger traffic to plunge.

Since the lifting of restrictions, Emirates has been gradually redeploying its aircraft worldwide in a market that’s still reeling from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Airlines have been among the hardest hit by the health outbreak, with the industry expected to incur a net loss of $118.5 billion for the whole year of 2020, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
