Dubai, UAE – Standard Chartered Bank announced today that it will continue its partnership with non-profit business education organisation INJAZ-UAE as board member and partner. Together, both entities will implement work-readiness training programmes to reach and impact 1000 students annually over the next three years and instill key skills for students in the UAE.

The partnership is done through a series of different mentorship programmes including Innovation Day Camps, Entrepreneurship Masterclasses, Career Success Programmes and more recently a Job Shadow day, Standard Chartered’s signature programme, where the Bank hosted students from Al Ghurair University and provided them with practical sessions and advices on how to develop and present their CVs to future employers; how to design a unique customer value proposition and how to market it.

Rola Abu Manneh, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank welcomed the students during the event and was quoted as saying: “As an international bank deeply rooted in the UAE, we recognise that developing a robust pipeline of local talent is key to our success and to the development of the Banking industry in the country. Our strategic alliance with Injaz plays an important role in empowering youth in the UAE and is in line with the country’s Youth and Vision 2021. Standard Chartered Bank has been in the UAE for 60 years and we are committed to continue making difference in the communities we operate in.”

Through INJAZ Programmes, Standard Chartered Bank volunteers were able to foster critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity skills within participating students as well as enable students to acquire a strong understanding and development of soft skills and how to prioritise work tasks. Since its launch in 2017, the Bank trained over 1000 students from across the UAE, with 100 mentors from the Bank who volunteered to deliver more than 10 innovation camps; 9 entrepreneurship masterclasses and many one-to-one career success sessions to instil an understanding of the world of work and a spirit of entrepreneurship through the principle of learning by doing.

Razan Bashiti, Interim CEO of INJAZ UAE commented: “I would like to express my gratitude to Standard Chartered Bank for their continued support to empower youth to own their own economic success. With the support of their volunteers, we are making a huge difference to the future generation. Together we aim to reach out and positively impact over 1000 students every year through various mentorship programmes covering work readiness, entrepreneurship. We keep on experimenting too with Standard Chartered constantly to see which are the models that work best.”
