Officials from two tourism establishments will stand trial for allegedly violating Covid-19 regulations.

A restaurant and a cafe in Adliya were closed following a raid by the food control unit of the Health Ministry’s public health department, the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry’s inspection department and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority.

The cafe staff failed to take details of customers while providing bookings at the same time.

The restaurant, meanwhile, served sheesha, which is prohibited during Covid-19.

“Officials from two establishments, a café and a restaurant, will stand trial in connection with violating Covid-19 regulations,” read a prosecution statement.

“The restaurant was serving sheesha and the café staff failed to take details of customers or check their tempratures and provided bookings at the same time.

“They will appear in court to face charges.”
