A fine of Dh500 shall be slapped against anyone involved in dumping wastes from balconies across the emirate of Sharjah.
Mohammed Ali Al Kaabi, head of city cleanliness control section, Sharjah Municipality, said the move is meant to "protect the scenic image of the city in a sustainable way".
"Some reckless people turn blind eye to these rules, and insist on breaking rules," he said.
"Preserving the environment is a top priority for Sharjah Municipality."
"Recently, the section has received a number of complaints from tenants about their neighbours who carelessly dump their wastes from the balconies of their tall buildings," he added.
"The Sharjah Municipality has urged all landlords to put posters and signs at their buildings to warn the public against these illegal practices," he pointed out.
"The Municipality deals with no tolerance with such violations that tarnish the image of the city."
