The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, SCCI, represented by the Sharjah Exports Development Center (SEDC), concluded its successful participation in “Gulfood 2020”, the world's largest annual food and beverage trade exhibition, which was held at Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The SEDC’s participation in Gulfood 2020 aimed at strengthening local industries and opening new export channels for Emirati companies in the local, regional and international markets.

During its participation, the SEDC reviewed the investment opportunities available in the food industry sector at the level of the Emirate of Sharjah, in addition to highlighting Sharjah’s competitive advantages and attractive incentives to foreign investors, which enable them to establish and conduct business easily and conveniently in a secure and stable economic environment that guarantees the best returns and expansion in the regional markets.

Enhancing the Contribution of the Food Sector

On the sidelines of his visit to the SCCI’s pavilion, HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, SCCI, met with representatives of the participating institutions and companies under the SCCI’s umbrella, praising their efforts in highlighting the local products and stressing the Chamber’s continuation in providing the necessary support to them to promote their products and find opportunities to develop their business locally and regionally.

This comes as part of the SCCI’s strategy to promote domestic sectors, create new markets for the SCCI members to reach importers, investors and new partners for the private sector in Sharjah.

This would lead to increasing the market shares of the local exporter in the world markets and enhancing the contribution of the food sector to Sharjah’s GDP.

Highlighting National Companies

Abdul Aziz Shattaf, SCCI’s Assistant General Director, Members Services Sector and Director of Sharjah Exports Development Center, said: “The SEDC has succeeded in highlighting national companies’ capabilities, by providing them with the necessary support and participating in this great event and offering discounts of up to 50%.

Our participation aims to highlight the quality of food and beverage products in the Emirate of Sharjah and its capacity competitiveness among its counterparts from different countries participating in the exhibition.

The SEDC’s participation in the local and international economic events aims to get the business community and investors in the Emirate of Sharjah acquainted with the latest global developments in various sectors, introducing them to the needs of other markets. This would help expand Sharjah's exports internationally, enhance the competitiveness of private sector companies in the emirate and communicating effectively with their counterparts worldwide.

SAIF Zone Showcases its Services

The SCCI’s platform saw the participation of SAIF Zone which showcased its latest services, advanced infrastructure and investment solutions provided to the food sector.

The SAIF Zone’s platform witnessed a huge turnout from investors and visitors to the exhibition who got acquainted with the facilities it provides through its multiple facilities, its strategic location, and its motivating environment that encourages business and enhances its leadership as a major contributor to economic diversification policy in the Emirate of Sharjah.

This is achieved by attracting new investments boosting the growth of the food retail trade locally and regionally.

Bolstering the Interests of Business Community

A number of the Emirati companies participating under the SEDC’s umbrella stressed the fruitful outcomes of their participation, expressing their appreciation for the efforts made by the SCCI to support the interests of the local business community and its constant endeavor to open new markets for the export of national products. They also thanked the SEDC, for paving the way to them to interact with potential customers in the region, in order to enhance their portfolio of current and future projects, stressing that the Gulfood 2020 exhibition provided the ideal opportunity for companies to display products and services to visitors, while seeking to enhance their presence in new markets, besides exploring emerging markets.

The SEDC, with the support of the SCCI, strives to promote national companies’ exports through specialized exhibitions and provide an annual plan its members to take part in various local and international exhibitions to highlight and promote the Emirati products and their quality.
