Doha: Qatar Islamic Bank’s (QIB) best-in-class services have been recognized with two prestigious awards at The Asian Banker Middle East and Africa Regional Awards 2021, a leading international provider of strategic intelligence in the financial services industry.

QIB was named ‘Best Retail Bank’, and ‘Best Digital Bank’ in Qatar, during the official Virtual Ceremony for The Asian Banker Middle East and Africa Regional Awards 2021.

Both awards reflect QIB’s continuous efforts to develop its existing product suite and create innovative financial solutions that meet the ever-changing needs of its customers. The awards are also a testament to QIB’s successful growth strategy, which is focused on customers’ needs and finding solutions that offer customers convenience and a simple banking experience.

This year, The Asian Banker has redefined categories, introduced new scorecards and widened the programme to include additional alternative providers to reflect the rapid transformation the financial industry is witnessing. The programme is now further complemented by BankQuality.com, a premier rating site by The Asian Banker, where customers can rate and comment on their banking experiences. The Asian Banker has also launched a series of online surveys across the region to gather feedback from customers on their engagement, experience, and satisfaction with their main retail banks.

Commenting on this recognition, Mr. D. Anand, QIB’s General ManagerPersonal Banking Group said: “We are delighted to be recognized alongside prominent members of the global banking and finance community. This is a testament to the significant progress QIB has made in establishing itself as a leading banking institution in the Middle East while maintaining its leadership position in Qatar.”

QIB has showcased steady financial growth over several years and has been setting a benchmark for Islamic banks in the region with its embrace of cutting-edge banking technologies, as well as its customer-centric approach to both its product offering and the overall banking experience.

In 2020, QIB has excelled in upgrading its digital banking channels, namely the QIB Mobile App with its 100+ features and services. QIB launched new digital products exclusively via the Mobile App to improve the banking experience of its customers, including the Domestic Workers Digital Accounts, the Digital Direct Remit Service, and the mPay digital wallet. The bank also continued offering its retail customers the fastest and most secure ways to remotely fulfill their banking needs, including opening a bank account, getting a personal financing, or issuing a Credit Card via the QIB Mobile App.

Being the first bank in Qatar to introduce end-to-end digital products via its Mobile App, such as Instant Finance, Instant Credit Card, Digital Onboarding, and the Domestic Workers’ Digital Account, QIB continues to service its customers in the fastest, safest, and most convenient way. Through QIB’s award-winning Mobile app new customers can open their first account and existing customers get personal financing or a Credit Card in few simple steps.

The Excellence in Retail Financial Services programme honours outstanding institutions in retail financial services that demonstrate a long-term sustainable franchise leading to consistent and profitable performance. It recognizes financial institutions for their vision, execution capabilities and market leading propositions that make a real impact to the financial sector and its consumers.
