Mubasher: Sports-car manufacturer Porsche was ordered on Friday by Germanys federal motor transport authority Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) to recall 19,000 of its sport utility vehicles (SUV), due to illegal defeat devices.

The recall order included 4000 Cayenne and 15,000 Macan, Porsches diesel-engine models, which were equipped with defeat devices and sold by Volkswagen subsidiary in Germany, KBA spokesman told Agence France Presse (AFP).

Meanwhile, 53,000 Macans and 6800 Cayennes have been identified worldwide with a software to reduce emissions under test conditions, he added.

The Stuttgart-based company was asked before to remove so-called defeat devices from the vehicles, pending approval by KBA, the authority said.

Defeat devices are motor control components that improperly manipulate vehicle emissions, which could result in higher amount of nitro oxide.

Earlier this year, the German carmaker have recalled Macan models to update emission reduction software, in order to avoid a regulatory ban.
