UAE - The Abu Dhabi court heard the case of a woman who filed a lawsuit against an Arab man who verbally threatened her and her children.

Investigations revealed that the man said, "I will run you and your children over with my car and I will not pay blood money."

He demanded that she withdraw her complaint against him and that she give return a bond paper that his wife had written in her name, reported Al Bayan.

The Court of First Instance had issued a three month jail-term for the man to be followed by deportation.

He appealed the ruling and his sentence was amended to a one-month jail term to be followed by deportation.

The Public Prosecution appealed the verdict to the Higher Court, claiming that the Court of Appeals made a mistake in amending the sentence to one month's jail term.

According to Article 98 B of the Federal Penal Code, it did not take into consideration that the threat was against a person that was accompanied by a demand.
