Joramco agreement with private operator strategic move forward

AMMAN Joramco, the Amman-based independent commercial aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility and the engineering arm of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), has announced that it entered into its first maintenance agreement with operator Avion Express, according to a Joramco statement.

The agreement, which was signed in August 2019 with Avion Express, which is one of the largest narrow-body ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) operators, included heavy maintenance on six of the carriers A320 aircraft.

Checks began in October 2019 and have continued into 2020, and the final aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance and is projected to be delivered in early March, the statement noted.

Joramco Chief Executive Officer Jeff Wilkinson commented in the statement: The agreement with Avion Express marks a strategic move forward as Joramco expands further into the eastern European market. The continuous expansion of Joramcos capabilities, skill set and service offerings is part of DAEs progressive vision and a necessary part of maintaining our dynamic position as a world-class MRO.

Base Maintenance Manager of Avion Express Leonids Trofimovics added: We are delighted to have started our cooperation with Joramco. We hope the Avion Express and Joramco partnership will extend even further and provide great results in the future.

Over the past few years, Avion Express has been providing services to many well-established airlines, including SunExpress, OnurAir, Norwegian Air, Condor and Sky Angkor Airlines, according to the statement.

For the 2019-2020 winter season, Avion Express has signed wet-lease agreements with the European carrier LOT Polish Airlines and VietJet Air, an international low-cost airline operating in Asia.

Located in a free zone area at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Joramcos facility includes five hangars that can accommodate up to 15 aircraft. The facility serves a wide range of customers in the Middle East, Europe, South Asia, Africa, Russia and the CIS countries, offering services on several aircraft models from the Airbus, Boeing and Embraer fleets, the statement said.
