Cairo – Mubasher Japan’s Sumitomo Tires is set to establish a new factory in the Egyptian city of Port Said, chairman of the Egyptian Japanese Business Council Ibrahim El-Araby said.

The new factory is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs, El-Araby added in a statement on Tuesday.

Sumitomo contributes to the assembly of Honda and Toyota cars as well as Montesa Honda motorcycles in collaboration with the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI).

The Japanese tyre manufacturer’s investments in Egypt totalled EGP 6.5 billion, El-Araby revealed.
