Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Before embarking upon the four-week incubation programme, 12 finalists of the Fikra Labs had the opportunity to meet with HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), to discuss how technology is disrupting the tourism industry and how to harness its power to propel Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector. The meeting also focused on exploring their journey with Fikra Labs so far.

The 12 finalist teams were selected from a list of 31 startups after undergoing a two-day mini boot camp designed as an intensive workshop to help participants develop their business ideas and become pitch-ready. The finalists were singled out by the screening committee to join the four-week incubation programme for successfully showcasing their thorough understanding of the business challenge they are trying to resolve.

Finalists are now in the four-week incubation period, where each partner is responsible for training and guiding three start-ups to address different challenges with a key focus of enhancing the visitor’s experience – from the moment they book their ticket to arriving in Abu Dhabi.

Partners are looking for ideas that best tackle these challenges and support them in establishing Abu Dhabi’s credentials as the leading hub for world-class tourism.
