Leading UAE-based smart and green facilities management (FM) company Farnek, has joined forces with ClimatePartner, international solutions provider for corporate climate action based in Munich, Germany.

The agreement allows Farnek to provide consultancy and advisory on the full range of ClimatePartners life cycle carbon management services to help Middle East businesses, reduce the negative impact their companies have on the environment and secure a sustainable future for generations to come.

ClimatePartner has been offering a wide variety of environmental solutions since 2006, ranging from carbon management strategies to enabling climate neutral products and services.

They are also involved with numerous internationally-recognised carbon offset projects and in addition, the company has also developed an IT solution for calculating carbon footprints and offsetting carbon emissions in order to make products and services carbon-neutral.

"Carbon offset projects help counteract the release of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, whilst simultaneously improving the livelihood of people around the world. By supporting carbon offset projects, companies can offset emissions that are currently unavoidable and therefore reduce their overall environmental impact," remarked Farnek CEO Markus Oberlin.

"Carbon offsetting is crucial if we are to achieve the goals set by the Paris Agreement on climate change, as well as the UAEs target to reduce carbon emissions by up to 25% by 2030," he explained.

Using the ClimatePartner climate action methodology, Farneks consultants will be designing tailor-made solutions for Middle East businesses.

It starts by defining corporate and product carbon footprints followed by the implementation of a climate action strategy and a carbon offsetting plan. The final act is to communicate that to corporate stakeholders.

On their partnership with Farnek, Moritz Lehmkuhl, Managing Director of ClimatePartner said: "Farnek will have access to hundreds of internationally-recognised and certified carbon offset projects that are currently available within our portfolio or in cooperation with our global network."

"We decided to partner with Farnek, because the company is widely considered a market leader throughout the Middle East, providing innovative and turnkey sustainable solutions to a wide range of organisations and was instrumental in bringing some of the first carbon management solutions to the UAE," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
