Dubai

The number of Emirati women investors in the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) by the end of the first half of 2017 reached 219,000, with their market value of shares at Dh18.8 billion.

According to figures issued by ADX, Emirati women own 3 billion shares in the market. Emirati women investors’ total trading value during the first half reached Dh2.7 billion, up 19.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2016.

Rashed Al Beloushi, chief executive officer of ADX, said the exchange has been stepping up efforts to raise the participation of women.

“Our strategy in attracting investments is quite diverse, bearing in mind that many portfolios managed by Emirati women investors have gained good profits during the past two years,” he added in a statement.

Al Beloushi pointed that the high percentage of Emirati women in the workforce is also helping to empower women investors.
