Dubai: Dubai Municipality employees can now get up to 10 per cent discount on Emirates ticket fares to all destinations.

The civic body recently signed a partnership agreement with Emirates airlines on offers and privileges to municipality employees and families, according to a press release issued on Monday.

Emirates will offer municipality employees and their family members (wife and children) 10 per cent discount on economy class tickets and 4 per cent on business class on all its destinations. An additional 10kg luggage per passenger will be allowed to municipality employees, as well as any additional privileges agreed between the two parties.

Marwan Bin Bayat Al Falasi, director of human resources department, Dubai Municipality and Mausouma Al Mohsen, director of sales, Emirates airlines, signed the agreement.

The agreement is in line with the efforts of the municipality and Emirates to strengthen their mutual understanding as part of a strategic partnership aimed at creating and promoting constructive cooperation between them, the press release issued by the municipality said.

Dubai Municipality employees will receive offers and privileges of Emirates through email, informing them of the booking process and reservation channels available for the privileges offered by Emirates.

The employees can purchase tickets for their official trips using LPOs and payment must be made by the municipality within 30 days from the date of payment receipts through Emirates Online on the airlines website, or at the offices of Dnata or Al Rais Travels.

Emirates shall give priority to Dubai Municipality in informing by email any offers made to the public and a monthly report shall be submitted to the authorised coordinator of the municipality carrying the number of employees travelling for official trips through Emirates.

Two ticket upgrades shall be granted to Dubai Municipality employees every month, in accordance with prior coordination between the two parties against the required flight status in case of availability of business class seats. This will exclude destinations such as US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
