The European Union (EU) has decided to impose a 25% tariff on steel imports, to limit the effect of the recent duties imposed by the United States.
US President Donald Trump announced in March imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum imports by 25% and 10%, respectively, which European countries worry could lead to dumping practices that could affect the market’s balance.
The new European tariffs are set to come into effect on Thursday, according to an official statement by the EU.
However, the tariffs will only come into effect if imports were to exceed the average level for the last three years.
