DUBA- The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has concluded the 4th Future Engineers camp, which it organised in co-operation with the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, AJCCC, in Dubai with a total of 40 students.
They spent over 80 training hours learning about the basics of robotics and developing smart applications. The camp included specialised programmes to develop skills in communications, teamwork and scientific research, as well as daily educational and fun activities and competitions. The participants expressed a 99.86 percent happiness rate with the camp.
During the graduation ceremony, the Future Engineers presented their innovative designs for robots and apps that they successfully uploaded on Google Play. The outstanding students with distinguished projects were honoured and appreciation certificates were presented to the participants.
"DEWA organises many events and initiatives to motivate the next generation to study science and technology. This supports the vision of our wise leadership to provide an environment that is conducive to creativity and innovation, and inspire younger generations to take their ambitions to the next level and expand their knowledge. The 4th Future Engineers winter camp has achieved its objectives in providing students with engineering and technical skills in an interesting manner, through edutainment," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
Al Tayer commended the efforts of AJCCC in organising the winter camp, emphasising that DEWA's objectives are aligned with the objectives of the centre to establish a conducive environment for knowledge that contributes to the development of an educated generation. This supports the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071, which provides a long-term government plan to prepare the UAE and young Emiratis for the future.
Matar Bin Lahej, Managing Director of the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, thanked DEWA, noting that investing in new generations is a true investment to serve the community.
"Since its establishment, AJCCC has adopted the principle of instilling creative thought and encouraging innovation, and DEWAs Future Engineers serves the same purpose. We hope that its results will be of use to these children and to the country as a whole.
The collaboration between AJCCC and DEWA is based on a meaningful foundation that serves children, as they are the future and the energy of our creative societies. We are working to create a promising, modern, globalised, and technologically advanced generation. We hope that these contributions will serve as an important intellectual base to prepare this generation for the job market," added Bin Lahej.
