Egypt is planning to build a complex for electronics research and manufacturing at a cost of around 4.4 billion Egyptian pounds ($279 million), the local press reported on Thursday.
The project in the Northeastern Ismailia city belongs to the Electronics Research Institute in Cairo and will be completed in mid 2022, Addustour and other newspapers said, quoting a report by the Egyptian Planning Ministry.
The complex includes 13 buildings comprising research centres, electronics manufacturing, a marketing centre and other facilities, the report said.
It said the government has already allocated around 221 million pounds ($14 million) to start the project, the first of its kind in Egypt.
