UAE, Dubai:

Within the context of keeping pace with the scientific and technical developments in the preventive and therapeutic dentistry services, and in conjunction with UAE Month of Innovation 2019, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) inaugurated “Khorfakkan Dentistry Specialized Centre” with an aim of providing health and therapeutic services in dentistry field and fulfill patients and visitors’ needs as well.

The centre includes 15 dental clinics and is fully-equipped with the state-of-the-art smart devices in dentistry field and dental labs to serve region’s residents, as well as residents of neighboring areas.

A Building Designed to be Friendly to People of Determination

In this regard, H.E. Dr. Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al-Rand, Undersecretary of the Ministry’s Health Assistant Sector, Health Centers and Clinics, said that the inauguration of Khorfakkan Dentistry Specialized Centre comes as part of MoHAP’s plans to meet healthcare needs according to the highest medical standards and practices, by opening specialized centres and promoting preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitation health services. Additionally, those plans include providing specialized medical personnel in order to deliver the best unique services with highest approved standards, in line with MoHAP’s strategy aiming to enhance society health, by providing comprehensive and innovative healthcare services.

Dr. Al Rand added that the opening of Khorfakkan Centre is considered one of the essential and vital projects in the region. Being the first centre of its kind in Khorfakkan City due to the lack of specialized dental clinics to serve the eastern region’s residents, the centre is representing an unprecedented quantum leap in the dentistry field. This will help facilitate bringing schedules much closer and reducing the waiting list.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry’s Health Assistant Sector noted that the building is designed to be friendly to the people of determination, by dedicating an integrated smart clinic to them with comfortable set-up fitting their health conditions.

Latest Medical Supplies in Dentistry Field

Dr. Maryam Sayed Jaffar, MoHAP’s Head of Dental Section, said that Khorfakkan Centre forms a qualitative addition to dental services in the region, through the fully-equipped clinics with the recent dental tools and supplies in order to provide outstanding service.

“The centre comprises all specialties and well-qualified medical personnel with specialized degrees. The centre, also, includes a new lab for teeth manufacturing and high-quality devices, in addition to a special section for sterilization which adopts the global standards for infection control,” Dr. Maryam added.

She further elaborated: “Khorfakkan Centre is built to fulfill the needs of the people of determination in order to make use of the curative services, through the innovative integration between the dental chair and an electronic mobile base to receive the different sizes of wheelchairs for the people of determination. The wheelchair’s installation and mobility are based on digital technology.”

Head of Dental Section pointed out that the clinic is equipped with a portable x-ray to facilitate the teeth digital imaging, in addition to the possibility of using a panoramic dental x-ray which has the ability to reach the same level of the people of determination’s wheelchair.

The Center is equipped with a device that measures and depicts the jaw during movement to diagnose temporal jugular (TMJ) disorder, jaw movement analysis, re-programming of jaw joints, as well as preoperative planning and postoperative examination.

The center also contains a dental carving device with CAD-CAM technology, which forms teeth faster, handles many types of materials used to manufacture teeth, and works on three axes for the manufacture of teeth compared to the old one, which works on two axes.

The center will provide medical services to citizens on weekdays from Sunday to Thursday, from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, including general and preventive dentistry, oral health, root canal treatment, pediatric dentistry, implantation, orthodontics and reconstructive dentistry, 3D clinical imaging, and dental laboratory services.
