The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen) is leading the way in Morocco’s renewable energy sector. They aim to be the preferred partner for any country wishing to make renewable energy a priority for its socioeconomic development. Masen has already signed several partnership agreements with African countries for the development of renewable energies.

Reflecting the framework of Morocco’s strategic plan to produce renewable resources, this year Masen will introduce more photovoltaic projects with production capacity ranging between 400 and 800 megawatts.  

During the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), Mr. Obaid Amrane, Board Member of Masen, said: “In line with the Morocco Vision 2030, Masen is dedicated to continuing the hard work towards the completion of several stations that will provide 52% electrical energy in Morocco by 2030 ". He added: “This event offers a vital platform to enhance our ties with the public and private sectors in the field of sustainable energy, and further explore different opportunities and learn about the latest developments in the industry.”

On the other hand, Mr. Amrane underlined Morocco’s leading role in this field, highlighting its strategy in sustainable energy which aims to reach a minimum threshold of 52% sustainable energy in the year 2030, as well as, create opportunities for innovation and scientific research to set sustainable development and renewable energies as a new driver of economic development in Morocco.

Mr. Amrane also revealed that during 2018, Masen completed the construction of the world’s largest solar complex, Noor Ouarzazate, which attracts a total of 580 megawatts is multi-technological using both photovoltaic and thermal technologie, namely CSP with parabolic troughs and CSP tower. Noor Ouarzazate III, a 150 MW CSP solar tower plant, is operational. Its 243 meters heigh tower is the biggest in Africa.
