Ajman Philatelic and Numismatic Exhibition 2019, organised by Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) in cooperation with Emirates Philatelic Association, opened at Fairmont Ajman hotel today with the participation of more than 75 exhibitors and traders from the UAE and GCC countries. The Exhibition will be held from September 3rd to 7th.
The opening ceremony was attended by HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General; HE Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, Director General of Ajman’s Department of Land and Real Estate; Nasser Al Dhafari, Executive Director of Corporate Communication and Member Support at Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and a large number of amateur stamp and coin enthusiasts from the UAE and overseas.
Held in conjunction with the anniversary of the accession of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, the Exhibition includes a large collection of rare coins and precious postage stamps that tell the story of the UAE and the region’s history and development over the decades.
HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General said, “Ajman is a unique tourist, cultural and historical destination that attracts distinguished events and exhibitions such as Ajman Philatelic and Numismatic Exhibition, which is being held for the first time and which reflects the UAE and the region’s cultural achievements and historical events.”
For his part, Saud Al Jasmi, Saud director of events section said, “We are delighted to organise this specialised exhibition, which is a valuable addition to the list of exhibitions and events hosted by the Emirate of Ajman. With this exhibition, we look forward to contributing to the spread of this hobby and to attracting enthusiasts to Ajman while reviving the heritage and cultural history represented by the stamps and coins.”
He added, “By organising the Exhibition in cooperation with the Emirates Philatelic Association, we seek to provide visitors with extensive information about the UAE and Gulf’s cultural heritage through stamps and postal materials – some of which predate the founding of the UAE – and about the most prominent events for which Gulf postal organisations issued commemorative stamps.”
The Exhibition will include an auction of rare and valuable collections of stamps and coins on Friday at 8:00pm. The exhibition aims to introduce rare stamps and coins that reflect the UAE’s past and present, and it is an ideal opportunity for stamp and coin collectors and amateurs to communicate, to exchange, buy and sell stamps and coins, and to identify rare and valuable collections of postage stamps.
A number of stamp and coin traders are participating in the Exhibition, providing amateurs with a wide variety of stamps and coins in addition to all the accessories and supplies associated with this hobby, including albums, cases for coins and plastic wrappers to protect stamps and coins.
