Riyadh -  Saudi Arabia registered a 10.36% year-on-year rise in the US treasury bonds during May 2019, raising its stake of the US treasuries for the fourth month in a row.

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of the US treasury bonds rose to $179 billion in May this year when compared to $162.2 billion in May 2018, according to the US Department of the Treasury.

It is worth to mention that Saudi Arabia has purchased US treasury securities worth $2.4 billion last May.

on a monthly basis, Saudi Arabia’s holding of US treasury securities rose by 1.36%, compared to $176.6 billion in April 2019.

Since the beginning of 2019, Saudi Arabia has increased its holding of the US treasury securities by 4.3%, or $7.4 billion increase, compared to $171.6 billion in the end of fiscal year 2018.

Among Arab countries, Saudi Arabia came on top of Arab holders of the US treasury securities, followed by the UAE at a value of $53.2 billion, and Kuwait at a value of $41.4 billion.

Internationally, China topped the countries holdings of the US treasury securities in May 2019 at a value of $1.110 trillion, followed by Japan at a value of $1.101 trillion, while Saudi Arabia registered the eleventh place.

The US treasury securities value rose by 5.2% year-on-year in May 2019, reaching $6.539 trillion, compared to $6.215 trillion in May 2018.

Moreover, on a monthly basis, the US treasury securities rose by 1.6% or $105.5 billion to $6.434 trillion last May against April 2019. In April 2019, Saudi Arabia has increased its holdings of the US treasury securities by 10.44% year-on-year.
