MOH approves list of doctors, nurses and technicians stranded abroad to return to Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Health has forwarded the list of doctors, nurses and technicians assigned in public hospitals and health facilities, who are stranded abroad, to the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate their return to Kuwait within the next few days.

Sources disclosed those covered by the decision include 300 to 500 doctors, technicians and nurses; affirming the ministry is keen on taking the necessary measures for them to return to the country soon in cooperation with its Foreign Affairs counterpart and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

In a related development, the daily obtained information that the recruitment of doctors from Pakistan, as well as the issuance of visas for doctors and other medical workers, are now part of the tasks of the Corona Emergency Committee in the Council of Ministers, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.

Sources confirmed that coordination is underway to issue visas for Pakistani medical teams, indicating the first batch of Pakistani medical teams is expected to arrive in the country at the end of this month.

Sources said a comparative study is being conducted to determine if these medical teams will stay in hotels or the accommodations owned by the Ministry of Health. Sources added the doctors and nurses specialized in intensive care, anesthesia and chest diseases will support the national medical professionals involved in the fight against covid-19.
