Hathaway reveals the hardest part of hosting the Oscars

Certainly not for the faint-hearted

Landing the gig to host the Oscars might sound like the stuff of dreams but it's certainly not for the faint-hearted, considering how many eyes will be on you.

Now former host Anne Hathaway has revealed what the worst thing about the job actually is and it's got nothing to do with the big night itself.

"The next day. Finding out how you actually did," she told ET. "Because it feels nice, everybody tells you it's going well while you’re doing it. While you're doing it, it's like doing anything, you know?"

Hathaway, who hosted the Academy Awards ceremony in 2011 alongside James Franco, also revealed that despite the pressures and potential pitfalls of the job, she's grateful to have had the chance to take it on.

"My approach to all this stuff is really simple: we're lucky," she said. "Whether or not it does well or it bombs, this is the stuff of dreams. This is not something to get upset about.

"Now, that being said, when it really bombs, it does sting a bit. I think it might end up being a net positive over life."

The 2019 ceremony is set to air without a host for the first time since 1989.
