KUWAIT - Kuwait's Ministry of Commerce and Industry said Thursday it closed five shops for failing to comply with the preventive measures put in place to curb spread of coronavirus.

The ministry, in a statement over its inspection of shops and shopping markets, said its teams visited 249 cooperative societies, markets, shops and vegetable vendors to make sure they were abiding by the preventive and hygienic measures as well as maintaining prices of products.

The teams, it added, also visited 40 ration branches nationwide to see delivery of rations.
